Woodlawn manager outlines sidewalk, road and facility projects and grants including $116,000 ODOT award

Village Manager Tim Engel told the Woodlawn council on Dec. 16 that several infrastructure projects and grants are moving forward, including completed sidewalk work, a pilot paving award, and a newly awarded active-transportation planning grant.
Engel said the Springfield Pike and Grueniger sidewalk work and bus-stop installations are complete and that the Taconic Terrace parking-lot project was bid out with John R. Jurgensen as the lowest and best bidder; staff will schedule a pre-construction meeting. He announced the village received a pilot paving program award through OKI for roughly $750,000 to repave part of Glendale Milford Road from Glendale Milford to Wayne Avenue, and two grants for Marion Road improvements — one from OPWC and one from the Municipal Road Fund — with sidewalks planned for 2029 under an OKI grant.
Engel also reported the village received an ODOT active transportation grant of $116,000 that will supplement development of a master plan to identify priority sidewalk and trail connections. "That grant will help us to supplement the master plan and it will be a valuable addition, for future grant applications," Engel said.
The manager said the village is finalizing a Hamilton County Impact Grant closing to purchase property on Springfield Pike; the property was reported vacant and a closing was moved to the coming Thursday with plans to demolish the structure afterward.
Progress on capital and facility work included renovations at 10088 Springfield Pike for Woodlawn Transport Services, with bay doors expected to be installed; the manager said that will let transport vans avoid cold-weather storage. The council did not vote on additional project appropriations at this meeting; staff indicated pre-construction meetings and contract execution will follow previously approved resolutions and bids.
Council members expressed appreciation for staff work and no public comment on the projects was recorded during the meeting. The manager said he will meet with Verdantas to review 2026 project planning and close out remaining 2025 items.
