Councilor withdraws parking ordinance amendment after title and section confusion

Councilor Cormier introduced an ordinance to amend the Code of the City of Gardner (chapter 600, vehicles and traffic) addressing parking prohibitions and moved to send the measure to second and final printing. She then offered an amendment to clarify the ordinance title and to specify changes across multiple code sections, including what she read as section 23 (all-night parking) and references to chapter 512 (vehicle removal) and schedule of fines.
When Councilor Mack asked for clarification, Cormier acknowledged a numbering error — the agenda listed section 24 while the text should have referenced section 23 — and the president suggested a brief recess so the amendment could be prepared in writing and distributed.
In light of issues with the draft language and the numbering confusion, Cormier moved to withdraw the amendment and then moved to withdraw the entire ordinance item from the calendar so it can be reworked. Both motions were seconded and carried by voice vote. The ordinance will be revised and reintroduced at a future meeting.
No vote on the ordinance's substance occurred; the item was removed from the agenda for correction and reintroduction.
