The Midway ISD Board of Trustees approved the consent agenda by unanimous voice vote, which included minutes from recent meetings, an early graduation request, designation of an alternate approver for the Texas Education Agency, adoption of the MISD 2026–27 academic calendar, a new high‑school chemistry course, recommended library materials, approval of construction delivery methods for a high‑school addition, and acceptance of the annual financial audit for approval.
Wesley Brooks presented the monthly finance report for November, saying projected average daily attendance metrics show roughly 28 fewer students than budgeted but a WADA increase that could result in about $300,000 more in state funding than budgeted. Brooks said the federal OMB supplement was released and the audit report now matches the draft previously presented and is available for board approval.
Trustees discussed a calendar tweak staff proposed after receiving feedback. The change moves one date from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, shifting a teacher workday to reduce the number of interrupted school weeks in the second six‑weeks period and to provide a Monday–Tuesday fall break that aligns with Columbus Day for some families. Trustees asked about rationale and community childcare impacts; staff said the change balances instructional continuity and extracurricular schedules.
The calendar item was pulled briefly for questions, then approved by motion and unanimous vote.
What’s next: staff will post the approved calendar, finalize audit paperwork for filing, and continue monthly financial updates to the board.
