Catoosa County Schools honor state champions, teachers and student fundraisers

Unidentified Speaker opened the meeting and the board spent much of the session recognizing students, coaches and staff for recent accomplishments across the district. Heritage High School and other district schools received state and statewide honors for literacy and math performance, and several extracurricular teams were celebrated for championship seasons.

Coach Harmer and school staff recounted the Lady Generals’ playoff run and state title, highlighting senior pitcher Bailey Hollis’s performance and an RBI that decided the championship. Coach Beth Chaplier described the dance team’s long season and state championship, calling the bus ride home and community send-off “an irreplaceable memory.” Jennifer Hamilton, the Heritage High School choir teacher, said the Chamber Choir earned the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Exemplary Performance Award based on recordings and performance ratings.

At Heritage High, a student-nomination fundraiser called the “Emperor of the Taj” also drew attention. According to a school presenter, the program’s candidates and sponsors raised a new record — $43,000 — for the Catoosa Children’s Fund, surpassing a prior mark the presenter said had been $25,000.

Board members and presenters repeatedly praised the district’s educators and community partners. Unidentified Speaker summarized the night by noting the system’s academic and extracurricular successes and urged the community to celebrate and share the students’ achievements online.
