Liberty Hill ISD presented an update on its 18+ ACCESS transition program Oct. 24, describing a renovated facility, community partnerships and steady enrollment growth.
Lehi Hussey, executive director of student support services, told trustees ACCESS (Accessing Community through Career, Recreation and Adult Independent Living) serves students who have completed high‑school credits and require continued transition supports. "The program also addresses self‑determination skills needed for independence," Hussey said, listing practical community outings to grocery stores and employer partnerships for volunteer and paid opportunities.
Staff reported the program grew from 12 students in 2022–23 to 26 students this year, with a projection near 30 for the next school year. The district said two students are participating in Project SEARCH through a memorandum of understanding with Seton Ascension Northwest and that other partnerships include Texas School for the Deaf and the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for specialized supports.
The district announced the ACCESS program will relocate to renovated space behind the Central Office and invited trustees and community members to an open house on Nov. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. Board members praised the program as a rare public‑school offer for adult transition services and thanked staff for their work.
No formal board action was required; the item served as an informational update and public invitation to the open house.
