The Oklahoma County commissioners approved two appointments during the meeting, including a nomination to the Metropolitan Library Commission and a recommended appointment to a reconstituted local trust.
District 1 staff told commissioners they recommend appointing Kimberly Winston to the Metropolitan Library Commission, replacing Shamia Jackson whose term expired. Staff noted Winston is a Spencer resident and that the town has long sought a library. Commissioners moved and seconded the nomination and approved it by voice vote.
Kimberly Winston addressed the board, saying, “I just wanna say that I am extremely grateful and honored and looking forward to serving on this committee. Libraries are essential to our communities, and, my background in development and community engagement, I am super excited and honored to be appointed to this position.”
Staff also recommended reconstituting a trust and appointed Siobhan Hanif to a seat, pending two additional appointments from other offices. Commissioners approved items 17 and 18 by voice vote.
Staff indicated bios are attached for both nominees and that the trust can proceed once the remaining appointments are made.
