Council accepts roughly $475,000 in donations and Liberty Park grant that bring parks awards to $1.6 million

The Marshall City Council formally accepted donations and grant awards that city parks staff said will fund trails, shelters, bathrooms and other park projects.
Preston Stensrude, speaking for Parks and Recreation, told council that donations for 2025 totaled just over $475,000 and that a Liberty Park grant announced the prior Friday brings the department’s grant awards to approximately $1,600,000 for park projects. He said the community’s support enables projects the city otherwise could not complete.
Council members thanked staff and donors for their stewardship and maintenance that helps attract further giving. The council moved and adopted a resolution acknowledging acceptance of the donations.
Parks staff highlighted that grant and donation funds will be applied to planned projects listed in the packet; staff did not provide a full line-item allocation at the meeting and said further project-level details will be shared through department project updates and capital budgeting.
