Hardin County commissioners approve routine minutes, budgets, appointments and procurement items

At its Dec. 9 meeting the commissioners approved the Nov. 25 minutes, released liability on the treasurer’s cash statement, authorized payment of county bills, approved budget amendments for vehicle proceeds and insurance claims, reappointed multiple ESD commissioners, and awarded procurement contracts for jail commissary and grant administration services.
Hardin County Commissioners Court handled a series of routine administrative actions on Dec. 9, approving minutes, budget adjustments, personnel changes and vendor awards.
The court approved the Nov. 25, 2025 meeting minutes (motion by Commissioner Gunn, second by Commissioner Cooper). Treasurer Deborah McWilliams presented the cash statement and asked the court to release liability for $1,698,352.37; combined county balances were reported at about $18.02 million. The court authorized payment of county bills totaling $2,358,746.65 for the reporting period presented by County Auditor Candace McKinney.
Other approvals included a FY26 road fund amendment to record $6,799 in sale-of-assets proceeds and matching vehicle expense, an increase to reflect $9,443.03 in insurance proceeds for patrol-vehicle repairs at the sheriff’s request, and authorization to solicit bids for a county awning project. The court also approved personnel-related requests: elimination of two vacant LVN positions and creation of two grant-funded medical assistant positions, and a transfer of $10,428 within the health department budget.
Procurement actions included awarding the jail commissary and food-service contract to Lone Star Commissary (evaluation committee recommendation) and selecting Trailer and Associates as the top-ranked firm for local hazard mitigation planning services. The court reappointed commissioners to multiple Emergency Services Districts and thanked volunteer ESD commissioners in attendance.
All motions in this block were approved by voice vote; no contested votes were recorded.
