Spring-Ford board honors outgoing director Clinton L. Jackson at final meeting

Madam President opened the Nov. 24 meeting of the Spring-Ford Area School District Board of School Directors with a ceremonial tribute to outgoing director Clinton L. Jackson, who is leaving the board after 11 years of service. Superintendent Dr. Scanlon introduced Jackson and praised his ‘‘people-centered’’ approach and willingness to mentor newer members.

Board members offered personal remarks about Jackson’s leadership and mentorship on the personnel, finance and project oversight committees. One director noted Jackson’s ability to make complicated topics accessible and his consistent focus on students’ interests. The board presented a student-designed 3‑D model of the high school and a Ram statue in recognition of his service.

Clinton L. Jackson addressed the board briefly, urging colleagues to seek respectful debate and to focus on fiscal responsibility. He said, ‘‘We’re all colleagues with different backgrounds, but the common goal here is that we’re the board for Spring Ford School District,’’ and encouraged residents to attend meetings and engage with township officials on development and transportation matters.

The board also acknowledged a slate of district retirements totaling 191 years of combined service, with Dr. Scanlon naming several retirees and their years in the district. The personnel items were approved by unanimous vote during the meeting’s consent-vote sequence.

The meeting concluded with public comment from Joe Cerisi of Limerick Township, who thanked Jackson for his service and said he had changed his mind about Jackson’s appointment after observing his work.
