Sedro-Woolley — Council members took time at the Dec. 17 meeting to recognize Councilwoman Sarah Diamond for four years of service and to swear in incoming and returning council members for the 2026–29 term.
Councilwoman Joellen Kesty and others presented flowers and public remarks thanking Diamond for "care, thoughtfulness and integrity" in her service. Diamond responded that she had not made decisions based on political parties and thanked staff, volunteers and partners who assisted during the recent flood.
The council then administered oaths of office to Joellen Kesty, Joe Burns, Nikola (Nick) Lavaca and Nora Pedersen. Several oath forms read aloud contained minor typographical errors; staff said corrected signatures will be obtained after the forms are fixed.
Mayor Johnson closed the meeting with holiday wishes and announced the council’s next meeting for Jan. 7, 2026.
