The board heard details of an intergovernmental reimbursement arrangement tied to the Blair Road West construction contract. Gary, the city's project representative, told the board that the MassTech Civil LLC construction contract for Blair Road is approximately $9,200,000 and that the town of Smyrna will reimburse the city about $260,000 for the portion of the contract that covers relocation of Smyrna's gas utilities.
"Y'all approved the contract with MassTech Civil LLC for Blair Road for about 9,200,000.0," Gary said, and he added Smyrna would reimburse an estimated $260,000; the written agreement includes a small contingency figure. The arrangement was described as a reimbursement agreement in which Smyrna will cover its relocation costs rather than the city absorbing them permanently.
Board members asked clarifying questions; no roll-call vote appears in the workshop transcript on final approval of that reimbursement agreement. Staff said the document authorizes Smyrna to be reimbursed for relocation costs tied to the Blair Road project and will be included in the consent/contracting process.
Next steps: staff will finalize the intergovernmental reimbursement agreement and include it in contracting records and the consent agenda as required for formal approval.
