Mayor invites residents to apply for boards, sign up for Kent 101 and join Adopt-a-Drain

Mayor Dana Rauch said the City of Kent has several openings on boards and commissions, including the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Bicycle Advisory Board, and encouraged interested residents to apply online at kentwa.gov/boardsandcommissions.

Rauch promoted Kent 101, a civics-style class that gives residents an inside look at city departments such as finance, IT, public works, public safety and parks. She said spring session sign-ups are now open on the city website and encouraged residents to enroll to learn more about municipal operations.

On public-works engagement, Rauch asked residents to participate in Washington state's Adopt-a-Drain program to prevent blocked drains and local flooding by clearing leaves and debris. She directed listeners to wa.adopt-a-drain.org for information and described how simple actions like raking leaves away from street drains help the larger drainage system.
