Mayor Dana Rauch announced Winter Fest will take place Saturday, Dec. 6, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown Kent, with a parade scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and a tree lighting at Town Square Plaza at 6 p.m. "Have it on pretty good authority that Santa and missus Claus will be coming in on a golf cart," Rauch said, inviting families to attend.

Rauch also noted the grand opening of the Federal Way Link Extension on Dec. 6. She said the extension reaches Federal Way and that the first two stations opening in Kent are the Kent Des Moines station and the Star Lake station. The mayor encouraged residents to check the city’s social channels and website for details about station activities and event schedules.

Rauch additionally promoted the Spotlight series event "Magical Strings" on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m., and directed listeners to the city website for tickets.
