Festival of Lights draws hundreds; council announces holiday events in Saint Albans

Unidentified Speaker 7, reporting on the Festival of Lights, gave attendance figures: "walk through first night had 439 people come through. Hayride, it was 863 people. The cars through the first weekend was 1,299 and visitors to Santa House was 528." Councilmembers praised organizers and noted that Santa House and parade routing have helped traffic flow on Valley Pike, Vine and Bridal Terrace.
Council staff announced the Old Main Christmas market (4–7 p.m. Friday), a combined tree lighting and storefront lighting at 6 p.m., Saint Francis choir and dance-studio performances, a parade on Saturday, luminaries at dark, and a boat parade on the Kanawha River at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers were invited to help set luminaries and staffing for events.
Council also reminded residents about the Winterfest at Riverside, the home tour on Dec. 13, business-after-hours at the train depot on Dec. 9 and other seasonal activities.
