Project Fighting Chance will hold an annual fundraiser called Jabathon to underwrite after-school and summer enrichment programs, executive director Terry Boykins told host Wallace Allen.
Boykins described Jabathon as a 12-hour continuous boxing-fitness circuit that typically starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Participants include youth in the program and adults who take part for fitness; donors can sponsor individual hours at a minimum of $5 per hour, and larger sponsorships are accepted. Boykins said some sponsors opt to underwrite an hour for $1,000.
The fundraiser is described as a community event that brings in participants from across the Inland Empire and supports Project Fighting Chance’s year-round services — including food assistance and a July summer enrichment program. Boykins referenced the date "November 22" and said Jabathon usually falls on the third Saturday in November; the program’s website (stopthetrauma.org) has event information and donation options.
Boykins said Jabathon proceeds help sustain services during summer months when school is out and the need for supervised activities is highest. He encouraged teams and organizations to participate for team building and to raise funds in support of the program’s mission.
