Council approves removal of gates on Emerson Drive to improve emergency access

Staff explained the interconnection had been created to provide emergency access when the city began administering subdivision regulations after annexation and that ongoing maintenance issues prompted the request to open the route.
A motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded. A roll-call vote recorded 'Yes' responses from Smith, Gustafson, Ramsey, Wynne, Brabner and the mayor; the resolution was adopted. Staff said the change will allow alternate access in and out of the subdivisions and facilitate emergency vehicle movement in case of an incident at either subdivision entrance.
