Woodlawn Village Council voted to request a 30‑day extension from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control to review two liquor-permit matters affecting properties on Springfield Pike. The notices, one listing Ibiza/10088 Springfield Pike and the other listing a transfer for an applicant described in the packet, were raised by the law director and discussed during the council’s legislative review.
Council members voiced concerns that the businesses may not be operating in the manner initially presented to the village when permits were first sought. Council members described repeated weekend disturbances and alleged late‑night alcohol service; one council member asked whether a business that originally presented itself as a breakfast or Mexican restaurant had become a bar. The law director explained that the transfer mechanism allows a permit to move with the property when no permits are otherwise available in the community, and said staff has not completed background checks on the new applicant and requested time to investigate.
Following discussion the council member moved, seconded and the body approved a motion to request a 30‑day extension from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control to allow the village time to complete background checks and gather more information before deciding whether to request a hearing.
The council did not take final action on the permits at the meeting; the extension gives the village additional time to review police information and any complaints and to determine whether to ask for a formal hearing with the state liquor authority.
