Lapeer County Health Department to offer ServSafe classes after $5,000 grant

Health staff said the grant will cover startup costs for training and that the first class is set for Jan. 26-27. Staff discussed fee options for attendees: a two-day class at $200 per participant, a proposed 8-hour course at $150, and an exam-only option at $75. The department said it will return with a formal fee schedule at a subsequent meeting.
Commissioners noted that extension previously offered similar classes but discontinued them in the area; health staff said Lapeer County will be one of the few counties in the region to resume in-person ServSafe training. The board moved to accept the grant; the motion was supported and approved by voice vote.
