Fingerprints and endorsements: Staff outlined the “hard card” fingerprint process for out‑of‑state applicants and a contracting plan to use DOJ‑certified vendors to convert hard cards into live‑scan submissions, cutting what can be a three‑month paper process to an electronic live‑scan timeframe of weeks. Licensing counselors are also partnering with national vendors to accept primary‑source electronic transcripts, reducing manual data entry.
Education and clinical placement data: Staff repeated that the BRN is building a clinical‑facility authorization data bank to record which academic programs use which facilities, what units and days are used, and to produce reports that will help future enrollment and approval decisions. The platform is being developed to reduce reliance on facility self‑reporting and to provide a single source for program approval and facility impact assessments.
Santa Monica College enrollment increase approved: The board accepted a motion to increase Santa Monica College’s ADN enrollment from two cohorts of 40 (80 annually) to two cohorts of 60 (120 annually), an annual increase of 40 seats. Staff reviewed facility impact assessments and academic outreach efforts; although some programs did not respond to outreach, those facilities that did respond indicated no conflict and the motion passed by unanimous roll call.
