City staff presented the library renovation and transition plan: the Riviera Beach Public Library will close for renovations Dec. 23 and reopen the renovated facility on Feb. 2, 2026. Library Director Adam Brody said core services will continue at the Brooks Center (594 West 4th Street) beginning Dec. 29, including computer and printing access, library card services, interlibrary loan, and electronic resources.
"The library will be transitioning to the Brooks Center, which is 594 West 4th Street, Riviera Beach 33404," Brody said, and provided operating hours and a short timeline for the transition and reopening. Dr. Latranda Hayes outlined Youth Empowerment Program operations: YEP will operate from the Wells Recreation Center portable facility with programming focused on tutoring, GED prep, STEM and job readiness in January and plans to transition back upon completion of renovations.
Council and staff also discussed improving signage and lighting at the library site before reopening. The council thanked staff for the planning and asked that communications to patrons and families clarify program locations and schedules.
Next steps: staff to finalize the move logistics, confirm hours and communications to the public, and return with any outstanding details before Dec. 29 service start.
