Bridgeport Board of Education elects Jennifer Perez chair; Joseph Sokolovic and Maritza Estramera Jimenez fill other posts

The Bridgeport Board of Education convened an organizational meeting in the Agriculture School Conference Room and elected its officers by paper ballot.

The presiding official opened the meeting, explained the nominations process and that ballots would be used for elections. After nominations were closed and ballots collected, the clerk read votes aloud and the presiding official announced Jennifer Perez as chair. "So unless I misheard, it was unanimous for Jennifer Perez," the presiding official said.

The board also selected Joseph Sokolovic as vice chair and Maritza Estramera Jimenez as secretary by paper ballot; the clerk read the ballots aloud for each office. The board then moved to approve the 2024 organizational meeting minutes; the motion was seconded and the minutes were approved by voice vote.
