Board approves consent agenda, expands Blessings in a Backpack and approves sale of student-built house

The New Albany Floyd County Schools board approved its consent agenda by unanimous vote, a package that included routine business items such as minutes, claims, payroll, transfers between funds, staffing reports, vendor renewals and donations.
During discussion, board member Miss Weishardt highlighted a planned extension of the Blessings in a Backpack program to include seventh and eighth graders beginning in January. "If this passes, seventh and eighth graders are gonna get this, and it starts in January," she said, adding the program will help ensure students "will not go hungry every day."
The board also adopted a separate resolution to list and sell a Prosser Construction Trades student-built house located at 4005 Fields Lane in New Albany. Administration said the district has a recent sale under contract for another Prosser house and will list the next house after a 10-day notice, working with a real estate agent and engaging students in staging and marketing. The sale resolution passed 7-0.
Other consent items approved included renewal of PowerSchool eFinance, driver education fee approvals, a sale of a construction trade house certificate of deposit, approval of an agreement with University of Louisville for a program, insurance renewals and donations to the Prosser Career Education Center.
