Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend reports increased service volume, opens new Alpine office

Naomi Hernandez of the Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend briefed the council on the group’s quarterly work in Alpine, saying the office’s four advocates delivered 2,134 services to 117 clients between August and October 2025 and provided $17,172 in financial assistance for rent, utilities, relocation and related needs.
Hernandez said the office offers confidential services, legal advocacy (with referral support from Texas RioGrande Legal Aid), emergency shelter coordination and community outreach spanning five rural counties. She announced the Alpine office’s relocation to 402 East Gallego and invited council members and residents to an open house scheduled for Dec. 4.
Council members thanked the center for its work and asked about client demographics and referrals; Hernandez said the office served both women and men and maintains hotline coverage and walk‑in hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
The presentation emphasized volunteer hours (2,125 for the period), outreach events and plans to move the little free pantry to the new address once relocation is complete.
