Parks and library announce summer programs; mayor pays tribute to longtime restaurateur Angelo Rallis

Library and Parks Commissioner Miss Dosa told council the library’s summer-reading program will kick off Saturday, May 31, with free books and a voucher for two Reds tickets for youths 18 and under. She outlined other library programming on June 11 (an adults' talk and a Reptar Inc. event at 4 p.m.) and described park events: the Mulberry Walk and Mulberry Festival (two Sundays starting June 1), the summer concert series beginning June 6 with a prior bench dedication at 7 p.m., and Shakespeare in the Park on Aug. 30.
Miss Dosa said she is finalizing a park grant application that must be postmarked by June 1 and requested council letters of support and feedback on desired park features; she asked for a resolution from council to accompany the submission.
Mayor Moody also used her report time to deliver an extended tribute to local restaurateur Angelo Rallis, who recently died. Moody said Rallis operated a neighborhood restaurant for 45 years and described him as a community staple, noting personal memories and urging the city to consider ways to memorialize his legacy.
No formal council action on the park grant or memorialization was taken at the meeting; Miss Dosa asked that letters of support be returned by May 26 to assist the application process.
