Barnett described a portable, no‑dig mesh fence staked into the ground that would enclose roughly three‑quarters of the rear yard and be removable if the family later built a garage.
Commission members asked about materials, color and gates; Barnett said the mesh would be black and include a single pedestrian gate, not a double driveway gate. Commissioners recommended making the temporary installation visually compatible with neighboring fences and suggested options such as using similar posts or adding removable wood slats to improve appearance.
A member of the commission moved to approve the proposed fencing for the visible sides and offered two paths forward: approve all three sides now as presented or approve two side segments and request the applicant return with a specific plan for the third side. The motion passed by voice vote. The commission instructed Barnett that he may return with an alternate design for the rear side if he prefers a different finish.
The commission’s action approves the permit application as submitted with the condition that any changes to the rear side be returned to the commission for review. No numeric vote tally was recorded in the transcript of the meeting.
