Yakima board reappoints discipline appeal council, accepts YV Tech grant certification and moves November meeting

Chief legal counsel Robert Ngo told the board the DAC is composed of five volunteer attorneys and that three members were being reappointed while two slots would be filled by new appointees. The board moved and seconded the roster and approved the reappointments by voice vote. A board member requested that future appointment packets include brief bios for appointees.
Assistant Superintendent/Finance Jay Cooper presented Resolution 01.25.26, described as a routine certification required to accept grant funds. Cooper said the district secured "just under $1,000,000" for YV Tech capital improvements; the resolution certifies district compliance with state and federal grant requirements. The board moved, seconded and adopted the resolution by voice vote.
The board also approved a one-time scheduling change: the Nov. 3 regular meeting was moved to Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. to align with a site visit to Lewis and Clark. Members discussed quorum planning because Nov. 4 is Election Day and acknowledged newly elected board members are not sworn in until certification occurs weeks after the election.
