Bibb County superintendent urges parents to talk with students over holiday break

Dr. Sims, superintendent of the Bibb County School District, thanked families for the semester’s progress and urged them to sit down with their children over the holiday break to talk about school and plans for 2026. "Please take time over this break to sit down with your child," he said.

In a brief message to "Bibb County families," Dr. Sims said the district is "so grateful" for parents’ trust and highlighted recent successes. He framed family conversations during the break as a practical step to prepare students for the coming year, saying it "is gonna be a true game changer" as students get their "minds and their hearts prepared for whatever lies ahead in 2026."

Dr. Sims specifically asked mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and other caregivers to use the break to "have the conversation about how school is going and what they plan to do when they get back," adding that the time required "won't take long" but can help improve students’ experience. He closed by wishing families a "safe, rewarding, relaxing holiday season" and offered "blessings."

The message was delivered as the calendar year ended; Dr. Sims encouraged the community to take the requested steps over the break and noted the district’s intention to continue work into 2026.
