Davis Public Works outlines school drop‑off, park restroom and 14th Street paving plans

Tamiko of the city’s Public Works, Engineering and Transportation department updated the joint City–District 2x2 on Nov. 19 about several near‑term projects that affect school operations and neighborhood travel.
On Anderson Road and Chavez Elementary, Tamiko said Public Works is coordinating with the district to address parent and teacher concerns about moving student drop‑off onto campus and plans to present revised plans at a follow‑up meeting in late January 2026. "Public works is continuing to coordinate with DJUC on this project to address the parent and teacher concerns regarding moving the student drop off onto the campus," Tamiko said.
Tamiko also described a new prefabricated restroom to be delivered just north of the community pool, likely in the first week of summer break so construction does not disrupt school traffic or summer camps. The city is discussing delivery routing and access with the district and nearby institutions.
Finally, Tamiko said the city will advertise the 14th Street (Oak to F) paving project for bids in late winter, with construction slated for late spring or summer and the paving portion scheduled for summer school break to reduce impacts on students.
Next steps: staff will coordinate delivery routing and traffic impacts with the district, the library and nearby facilities and return updates as projects progress.
