Board approves targeted and local improvement plans for five campuses

SAN FELIPE-DEL RIO CISD — The board voted unanimously on Nov. 17 to approve targeted improvement plans for Garfield Middle School, Del Rio Middle School and San Felipe Memorial Middle School and local improvement plans for Buena Vista Elementary and Ruben Chavita Elementary, and authorized the superintendent or designee to submit the plans to the Texas Education Agency.
Carlos Barrera presented the statutory basis for the plans (Texas Education Code section 39.106 and relevant administrative code) and described that campuses identified for school improvement are required to develop plans aligned with the Texas Continuous Improvement Process. The plans are tied to the district’s LASO 3 (Texas Instructional Leadership) grant work with Region 15, and administration recommended board authorization to submit and oversee implementation.
A motion to approve the recommended plans was made by Mister Alindo and seconded by Amy Haines; the motion carried unanimously.
