Roseville’s Parks, Recreation & Libraries department received two national recognitions at the Dec. 17 City Council meeting: accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and selection as a National Gold Medal Award finalist.
Jane Adams, executive director of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, presented the awards and said Roseville “demonstrated 100% compliance with 154 standards,” a measure of an agency’s management, safety and service to the community. Director Jill Geller accepted the plaque and credited city staff and leadership for the accomplishments.
Adams described CAPRA accreditation as a national benchmark governed by the National Recreation and Park Association and noted Roseville is among a small number of California agencies to achieve the recognition. Mayor Bernasconi and council members congratulated staff and posed for a presentation photograph.
The recognition highlights the department’s work on facilities, trails, sports fields and recreational programming; staff and council noted the accolades reflect multi‑year efforts in administration, safety and community engagement.
Council did not take formal policy action on the awards beyond the presentation; the council moved on to business items after thanking the presenters.
