Pulaski County approves service-year adjustments for three EMS hires; increases budgeted pay by about $14,300

Natasha proposed granting half of the prior service credit to the three employees (one paramedic with 32 years, one paramedic with 16 years and one EMT with 19 years). She said the change would not require new money beyond transfers and estimated the cost increase at $14,328. Speaker 6 clarified that prior practices (for the sheriff's department and other departments) adjusted pay rates without changing county service years for benefits: "their years of service still with the county are at the rate," Speaker 6 said.
Speaker 1 moved to approve the raises, a second was recorded and the council voted to carry the motion. Natasha said the adjustments would begin Jan. 1.
Next steps: Payroll and human resources staff will implement the service-year adjustments and update pay scales; the budget impact was presented as about $14,328 ongoing.
