The Pinellas County Board of Adjustment and Appeals voted to grant a conditional variance to allow construction of a covered patio at 1087 Murfield Court in the Cypress Run Villas East development.
Principal planner Molly Cord told the board the owner sought a reduced 4.86‑foot rear setback where the RPD zoning requires 10 feet and that staff recommended conditional approval. Cord said the owner presented evidence that recent storms (named in the record) had damaged roof structure and that the covered patio would improve drainage, wind resistance and overall resilience of the unit.
Applicant David Cardew identified himself to the board when called. No public opponents appeared. A board member moved to accept the staff recommendation; the motion was seconded and the board approved the variance.
The approval is subject to conditions listed in the staff report. The board did not record additional amendments or a roll‑call record of individual yes/no votes in the transcript; the chair announced the variance was granted.
