The council received an initial presentation on a proposal to replace two Riverwalk bridges in Gold Star Park. Speaker 4 reported both bridges (one near the boat ramp and one under the bridal overlook) are in poor condition and that two contractor quotes were obtained for composite treads similar to prior work on the overlook deck.
Council member Speaker 5 asked whether a steel-frame option with mid-span bracing would be more durable in the long run and whether that approach would justify a higher upfront cost. Speaker 2 and others cautioned that previous steel retrofits cost multiple times more and recommended staff obtain detailed pricing before bringing the item back for a vote. Speaker 1 indicated the item will be carried over to a future meeting so the council can compare options.
