Planning and Zoning Commission elects Rick Miller chair and names DJ vice chair

The Planning and Zoning Commission elected Rick Miller as its new chairman and selected DJ as vice chairman during its Dec. 11 meeting following recent resignations.
Community Development Director Lloyd informed the commission that both previous leaders — Chairman Jack Pence and Vice Chairman Timothy Kinsley — had resigned, prompting the need to fill leadership posts. A commissioner nominated Rick Miller and the motion to appoint him as chairman was seconded and carried, with the commission stating the result as "4 to 1."
Shortly afterward the commission considered the vice-chair position. Commissioner Tai Tu volunteered for the role, and discussion followed. A motion to appoint DJ as vice chair was seconded and carried unanimously.
Chairman Miller thanked attendees, emphasized decorum and community engagement, and presided over the remainder of the meeting.
The leadership changes take effect immediately for commission business and the commission continued on to consider code amendments under D2 and D3.
