At the Dec. 23 meeting, the South Berwick Town Council adopted multiple sets of minutes with a few textual corrections and approved a treasurer's warrant dated Dec. 18, 2025 for $141,353.47.
Several councilors proposed edits to earlier minutes (correcting titles and spellings) and motions to adopt the public-hearing, board of assessors, town-council and special-town-meeting minutes passed by unanimous vote. On the treasurer s warrant, a motion to sign the warrant for $141,353.47 was moved and seconded, and the vote carried 5-0.
Later in the meeting, councilors debated whether the newly developed food-truck application should proceed directly or be reviewed in a joint workshop with the planning board and the planner who prepared the ordinance. The planner explained food-truck licensing is within the council s authority because food trucks operate as a mobile business rather than as a land-use parcel. Several councilors argued the application should be refined and made more accessible for applicants; one councilor said the cover sheet should clearly state the town name and the new ordinance.
The council amended the motion and voted 4-1 to table the food-truck application until the first regular meeting in January to give staff time to revise the application and to allow a planning-board workshop if appropriate. The planner and staff will return with updated materials.
