At its Aug. 4 meeting the Village of Glendale council approved several items that require immediate administrative follow‑up.
Ordinance 2025‑39: Council dispensed with the three‑reading rule and adopted an amendment to the 2025 appropriations to provide up to $14,000 for work at the train depot. Administrator David Lumsden said the appropriation covers up to $9,000 for column restoration and up to $6,000 for electrical work to support waterproofing and a sump pump; the Glendale Heritage Preservation Group (GHP) is funding the vendor‑led waterproofing work.
Ordinance 2025‑40: Council authorized the village administrator to offer a surplus 1999 Freightliner fire truck for sale via online auction platforms (GovDeals or Hamilton County auction) and declared an emergency to streamline the process. The administrator and fire‑department staff will set price and sales details, and the department will circulate the posting link.
Resolution 2025‑22: Council adopted a resolution to establish a committee of the whole to study whether Glendale should pursue a charter form of government. Councilors described the study as exploratory and said it would involve sample charters, pros and cons, and public outreach if the committee recommends moving forward.
All three items were approved by roll call after motions to dispense with the three reads where required.
