Chief Jerry Deitseimer gave the Mt. Healthy City Council an operational update on May 6, including recent equipment purchases and an explanation of April crime statistics.
Deitseimer said the department received new mobile data computers (MDCs) in a 50-50 project with the county and added a new Chevy Tahoe to its fleet. "We did add, car, the new Chevy Tahoe to the fleet. We now have 6 vehicles that are rotated in the fleet where 2 officers assigned to each vehicle," he said, noting the rotation reduces wear by avoiding continuous 24-hour use of a single vehicle.
On training, Deitseimer said the department is halfway through its continuing professional training hours and that the city receives reimbursement for those hours. Regarding April crime counts, he explained that several motor-vehicle incidents were logged as unauthorized use (e.g., vehicles not returned) and that two aggravated-assault reports were closed without charges after victim noncooperation. He offered to share details with Councilor Parsons for follow-up.
Councilors raised questions about whether the aggravated-assault cases remain under investigation; Deitseimer said some incidents initially reported as aggravated assault did not result in charges and that those cases are closed at present.
