Brockton council suspends rules to confirm firefighter Jean Marc Delucent

The Brockton City Council on Dec. 22 suspended its rules to consider and confirm a firefighter appointment, approving Jean Marc Delucent to the Brockton Fire Department.
Fire Chief Nardelli introduced Delucent as a 27-year-old who came to the United States from Haiti as a child and previously served with the Hanover Fire Department. "Jean Marc came to United States as a child from Haiti, born in Haiti, now lives in the city of Brockton," Chief Nardelli said, and noted Delucent will begin drill school in January.
Councilor Lally moved to suspend the rules so the council could act on the appointment that evening; the motion was seconded and carried. The council then took a roll-call vote and the clerk recorded 10 votes in the affirmative, after which the president declared the appointment carried and congratulated the new firefighter.
The council briefly recessed after the appointment before continuing the evening's agenda.
