During consent-agenda discussion council reviewed an agreement with SafeBuild to perform electrical inspections for the city while the city retains responsibility for other inspection work until a replacement is in place.
Staff said the SafeBuild engagement was for electrical inspections only and that current city staff would continue other inspections until about Jan. 5. Council asked whether the contract’s Schedule A should explicitly limit the scope to electrical inspections; staff and legal counsel suggested adding language limiting services to those requested by the city. A council member moved to approve the agreement with the added phrase, "at the request of the city," and the motion passed as part of the consent agenda.
The council recorded the consent-item approval and directed staff to send the revised language to SafeBuild and finalize the contract.
