Katie Toole (director of teaching and learning) said department lead Ms. Brown and art staff surveyed students and identified jewelry and fibers as the top choices; the district posted pilot information online and received three public responses (all positive). Toole asked the board’s permission to pilot the two courses in the spring semester and referenced pacing guides and draft materials posted on the district website.
Board members responded positively, noting pilot courses often draw strong student interest (similar to culinary programs). Staff will return with final pilot logistics and scheduling for board action as required by policy.
