During the public-comment period a parent raised concerns about several incidents she said involved a boy using the girls' locker room. Carrie Schmidt (speaker 19) said she had filed core records requests and received documents dated Nov. 19, 2024, and that in the past 16 months there were three known incidents across district high schools and middle schools.
Schmidt asked whether the district had followed the transgender policy established in 2022, whether building administrators and staff had been properly trained on policies and procedures, and whether any video footage had been reviewed. She said she had paid $90.92 for some records and asked why basic information was not provided directly by the district.
The board did not respond with a detailed investigative update during the meeting; the comment was entered into the public record and flagged by multiple board members as an item that warrants administrative follow-up. The district later moved into executive sessions that included confidential student information, which the board said was pursuant to the statutory exception for student-privacy matters.
No disciplinary outcomes or additional administrative findings were announced in open session at this meeting; council members indicated they would follow the appropriate confidential-process steps where required.
