A proposed job description for a "student transport driver" was presented to the Auburn-Washburn Board as an added position to formalize duties already performed by some paraeducators.
Chelsea, the presenter, described two primary contexts for the role: non‑CDL driving to discreetly transport McKinney‑Vento (students experiencing homelessness) cases and driving duties tied to the district's 18–21 transition program. She said the position reflects work already performed by current staff and flagged associated compliance and training requirements including physical demands, lift operation and other safety training.
"Basically it's called a student transport driver," Chelsea said, noting the district will need to acknowledge training and physical requirements and possibly set up the role formally in internal systems. The board did not take final action on the job description at this meeting; the item was presented for review and questions.
