Board approves consent agenda including large encumbrances and grant application

The Salina Public Schools Board of Education approved its consent agenda on Dec. 9, which included minutes, personnel items and several expenditure encumbrances.
The record lists three vendor encumbrances called out by the board president: First Eagle Technologies for $26,445 for network security testing; CDWG for $24,204 for replacement email servers; and Sunland Asphalt for $876,734.34 to mill, repave and restripe the Central High School parking lot. The board also approved a request to apply for a Kansas Stronger Connections competitive grant through the Kansas Department of Education in the amount of $304,314.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved and seconded and carried by a 6-0 vote. No further discussion of the encumbrances or grant was recorded in open session.
Next steps: district staff will proceed with encumbrance processing and, if successful, will submit the grant application to the Kansas Department of Education.
