Chase Youngdahl of Bonner County Noxious Weeds presented the Selkirk Cooperative Weed Management Area’s cost‑share application and 2025 close‑out report during the Dec. 30 meeting.
Youngdahl outlined three project priorities: early detection and rapid response for newly-invading noxious weeds, a neighborhood herbicide reimbursement program for landowners, and education/outreach. He said the application packet includes an itemized line‑item budget and an annual operating plan. Youngdahl initially referenced a $14,000 request but then summarized the full submission as $15,120, which includes an 8% administrative fee processed through the Boundary County auditor’s office. He said no cash match is required under the funding mechanism; a 1:1 in‑kind match is required and is calculated using the state’s itemized in‑kind sheet, and he cited Idaho statute 22‑2‑407 in describing landowner compliance duties.
Youngdahl also presented the CWMA’s 2025 end‑of‑year report and said Bonner County benefited $7,582.88 in the previous cycle. The board moved to approve the 2026 operating plan and cost‑share application in the amount of $15,120 (approximately $7,600 allocated to Bonner County) and later approved the end‑of‑year report. Both motions passed by roll call.
Youngdahl said the CWMA splits resources between counties (Bonner and Boundary) and builds flexibility to adjust allocations as needs arise. The approved funding will be submitted to the Idaho State Department of Agriculture for the next cost‑share cycle.
