Board passes first reading of updated tree/settback ordinance

On first reading the board passed an amendment to the cityfs land development regulations related to flexible setbacks and tree protections. Staff added four species (Simpson stopper, wax myrtle, myrtle oak and Hercules club) with a minimum DBH of 8 inches and added an application requirement that the applicant provide a short description of facility construction and how it affects trees.
The chair read the ordinance title into the record as required for first reading. The measure passed by voice vote after a brief discussion. The ordinance will return for subsequent readings per the cityfs ordinance process.
