The City of St. Augustine Beach commission on Dec. 1 nominated and confirmed Beth Sweeney as mayor and Ginny Morgan as vice mayor for 2026.
Mayor Rum Rum opened the nominations and moved to nominate Beth Sweeney; the nomination went forward with no additional candidates offered. "I'd like to nominate Ginny Morgan to serve as our vice mayor this year," one commissioner said; the nomination was seconded and no further nominations were put forth. The clerk announced "by no other nominations... congratulations." Commissioners praised the serving mayor for two years of service and welcomed the incoming leadership.
Commissioners briefly discussed commission assignments and intergovernmental representation following the nomination; the mayor traditionally serves on the Tourist Development Council and staff noted county confirmation is required for some appointments. The formal oath and transition will occur at the start of the incoming officials' term in January.
