Andrew Beckett, identified in the meeting as present, told council the projects are: a shared-use path on 27th Street from Washington to Home, Marr Road sidewalk from 25th Street to 32nd Street, and a shared-use path from Marr Road to Lowe's. "These are leftover funds the MPO had in past years. They got flexed to transit, and it will allow us to build 3 projects, 80/20 federal," the presenter said.
Councilors asked for specifics on the Marr Road segment and whether pedestrian crossing buttons would be installed; staff confirmed Marr Road would be constructed from 25th to 32nd and noted pedestrian infrastructure elements would be included. Several council members expressed support for the projects and the federal match.
The ordinance passed on first reading (roll call recorded). The appropriation remains subject to required subsequent readings and final approval per municipal ordinance procedures.
