Evansville council renews taxi certificate for Diamond Transportation

Sheila Stanley, who identified herself as the owner-operator of Diamond Transportation Taxi, asked the council to renew the business's license, saying, “I requested city council grant me a certificate of convenience and necessity so I can renew my license for 2026.” Stanley told the council the company has been in business "well, over a year" and described the first year as "tough" but ongoing.
Council members asked no substantive questions during the floor discussion, and the clerk called the roll. The vote was 7 ayes, 0 nays; the presiding officer declared Ordinance G-2025-24 adopted. After the vote Stanley thanked the council.
The ordinance was considered on its second reading and was taken up as part of the regular agenda's second-reading items. There were no public remonstrations recorded against the license renewal during the meeting.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the certificate during the meeting. The next scheduled council meeting is Dec. 1, 2025, when related licensing or business matters could appear on the agenda.
