The Loudon Select Board voted to adopt updated FEMA flood insurance rate maps and incorporate the specified flood insurance study panels into the town zoning ordinance.
Staff explained FEMA notified the town late and that FEMA’s originally stated effective date of Jan. 23, 2026 may be delayed to March; the board agreed to approve the resolution as written but said it would reissue or amend the resolution if FEMA changes the official date.
During the motion, the chair read multiple panel identifiers to be incorporated by reference into the zoning ordinance. Select McMillan moved to adopt the FEMA FIS dated 01/23/2026 and the listed panels; Select Griffin seconded the motion and the board voted in favor.
Board members noted the later March date could give them time to consider any local zoning adjustments before maps become effective. Staff said they would update paperwork if FEMA issues a revised effective date.
