The Schenectady County Ways & Means Committee reported several routine tax and apportionment items to the full legislature.
Finance Commissioner Jackie Falotico told the committee that a revision in the packet reduced the chargeback amount after some postmarked taxes were received. Ways & Means 18 would authorize the chargeback of uncollectible school taxes to the applicable school districts; Ways & Means 19 covers return of village taxes to town rolls for Delanson and Scotia. Both measures were moved and reported to the floor.
On Ways & Means 20, staff presented assessed values to be used for the county’s 2026 tax apportionment and tax levy, described in the packet as $10,600,000 for apportionment purposes and just under $10,000,000 (presented as "9.99") for levy purposes; those figures were indicated as verified by local municipal assessors. Legislator Gatta/Gatto moved to move the remainder of the agenda and the committee approved advancing the remaining items to the legislative agenda.
The committee adjourned and announced the next legislative conference would be Tuesday the ninth. The county packet contains detailed figures and calculations supporting the apportionment and chargeback items.
